MARIANA DC
Mariana Dias da Cunha (Lisbon, 1984) is an independent multidisciplinary artist, storyteller, educator, and trained Forest School practitioner. Recognizing nature’s impact on child development, her relationship to the animate earth, combined with her insights as a mother of three, bring a distinctive perspective to her pedagogical approach and artistic practice.
Her work spans diverse mediums, from writing and drawing to video and collage, utilizing overlaying, juxtaposition, and assembly to craft stories from her personal cosmology. She explores fragmentation and cyclical rhythms, transitioning between moments of separation and integration.
Her artistic process resembles an ouroboros, where the work continuously consumes itself to evolve, like feedback loops that inform future creations. Through telluric inspiration, she experiments with serial repetition.
